Because horseshoes are lucky, stable owners are lenient when horses wear their footwear to bed and stand defiantly on living-room furniture. Saddle up on a lottery-winning quadruped with today's Groupon to Ennis Horsemanship Center in Chandler. Choose between the following options:

  • For $25, you get a one-hour introductory horseback-riding lesson (a $55 value).
  • For $40, you get a two-person one-hour introductory horseback-riding lesson (an $80 value).

Ennis Horsemanship Center equips riders of every skill level with the safety gear and practical knowledge to saddle and steer noble mounts across its 11,000-square-foot indoor arena. During the one-hour lessons, apprentice jockeys climb aboard stately steeds under the direction of certified sugar-cube purveyor Jill Ennis, named one of the top 50 instructors in the U.S. by the American Riding Instructors Association. Jill schools students in the basics of English and Western riding styles, focusing on instilling confidence and trust as man and beast explore a terrain laced with white-plank fencing and a forested canopy that casts shadows across rolling grasses. Students should wear long pants and boots with small heels; Jill provides riding helmets to provide cranial protection while wirelessly transmitting translations of horse neigh-speak.

Ennis Horsemanship Center

At the heart of Ennis Horsemanship Center is David and Jill Ennis, a married couple with a shared passion for the majestic nature of horses. Before moving to Chandler in 2010, David and Jill ran a successful stable in Missouri—the very place where David happened to also propose to Jill, inside the riding arena. Today, the Ennises and their roster of award-winning school horses provide training, education, and riding lessons that accommodate kids and adults. These lessons emphasize becoming a total “horseperson,” meaning students not only learn how to ride a horse, but also how to care for it to and teach it how to neigh orders at drive-thru windows. To make their services even more accessible to the community, David and Jill have also registered their facility as part of the Horses4Heroes network.
