Written by critically acclaimed playwright Sharr White (The Other Place, Six Years), this theatrical tour de force tells the story of an unlikely couple who divorced 20 years ago. Their intense, brutally honest and sometimes comic encounter begins anew when Emma, matching luggage in tow, barges into a squalid Colorado trailer-park home to care for her former husband -- cowboy-poet Ulysses, now dying of lung cancer and taken to cooking in the buff while hooked to an oxygen tank. Much to their surprise, the more they understand what drove them apart, the more they're drawn together. What follows is the final reckoning of their relationship -- a reunion charged with both rage and compassion -- as the shocking reasons behind their love's demise are ultimately revealed. Walk the fine line between tragedy and comedy, laughter and loss as this production makes its regional premiere via Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati.
