Famous artists claim that they learn the most about themselves after ingesting and digesting their creations. Explore this method of self-assessment in culinary style with today's Groupon: for $42, you get a three-hour cooking workshop (an $85 value) at the Epicurean School of Culinary Arts location on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood. Today's deal is only valid for cooking workshops and does not apply to tours or other programs.
Founded in 1985, Epicurean gives choppers with any level of chops a hands-on—or a knives-on-and-hands-away— lesson, lead by trained instructors. During Cupcakes Couture III, students create stylish cupcakes, such as chocolate cherry cordial and strawberry with brown sugar crème fraiche icing. For clock-watchers or those trained in the fast-paced world of cup stacking competitions or speed chess, the menu of Jiffy Meals can all be prepared in less than 30 minutes. During the Sauces course, pesto un-clumps and au jus is finally translated (spoiler alert: it means "oh, you!"). Jesse Brune of Bravo's Workout leads salad formations during Salad Daze and combines healthy edibles in Fit to Eat. Check out the full schedule of classes here.
Epicurean provides all of the food and supplies for each class, but students should bring their own pen and apron, and dress in kitchen-safe long pants and toe-shielding rubber-soled shoes. Metered or valet parking ($5.00) are both available nearby. After a course, culinary artists will be equipped to decorate windowsills with freshly frosted cupcakes and dominate their next workplace cook-off or no-bake-battle.
