What You'll Get
Unlike DNA or a propensity to yell at the TV, hair color is a trait over which people can assert their control. Show your roots who's boss with today's Groupon: for $50, you get a single-process color, cut, and blow-dry at Essencia Salon and Day Spa in Hockessin (up to a $100 value).
Each of Essencia Salon and Day Spa's professional coiffeurs wields more than 10 years of styling experience to revamp 'dos with cut and coloring treatments. A single-process color enriches brunettes, jazzes up blondes, or enlivens redheads with a new all-over hue, infusing a vibrant shine into lackluster locks or unruly heads of live snakes. Exchanging dye brushes for a gleaming pair of scissors, tress whisperers crop strands into a sleek shape before blowing locks dry, After the 90-minute makeover, patrons can shake out their manes in slow motion as they marvel at their sleekness, volume, and shine, experiencing a boost in self-confidence normally garnered by saving kittens from a bald eagle’s nest.
Located inside a historic Victorian house, Essencia’s décor recalls an Italian vineyard with lush arrangements of foliage wrapped around the cutting room walls. Before settling in for services, sip away at a complimentary beverage and peruse the bedazzled boutique, packed with chic jewelry, accessories, and bottled clippings of Merlin’s magically lustrous beard.

About Essencia Salon and Day Spa
While searching for a location for her salon and spa, founder Janet Conigliaro fell in love with a historic Victorian house on the edge of Wilmington. Deciding the domestic setting would help her clients feel at home, Conigliaro started her business, and more than a decade later, she and her staff are still snipping tresses and pampering skin amid the dwelling’s wood floors, ornate silver mirrors, and flowing lavender and green curtains.
The stylists employ products from Redken, Goldwell, and Framesi as they shift hair shades and craft updos for weddings, proms, and nights of partying at the city’s trendiest gas stations. The rest of the staff stays busy, too: nail technicians layer fingertips with long-lasting Shellac polish, skin specialists concoct custom masks for troubled skin, and massage therapists soothe knotted backs with Swedish, hot-stone, and sports massages. In the boutique, visitors can find jewelry and handbags to add to the wax statues of vacationing Supreme Court justices they sculpt in their free time.
