Everybody loves fairy tales. They’re deliciously weird and often surprisingly gruesome. But they’re also decidedly Old World. So where are the American fairy tales? Look no further than Scratch My Back: American Fairy Tales, an evening of storytelling by Bret Fetzer. A playwright, director, filmmaker and journalist, Fetzer will whisk you away on a fantastical journey with four tales of imagination, including a story about a girl being wooed by a rabbit who is more than he seems and the account of a railroad worker whose balloon, meant for escape, is hired for a trip to Heaven … by a pregnant demon. Plus, to top off this night at West of Lenin, the Moonshine Revival Choir’s Jillian Vashro and Christine Longe will be performing.
