Entering its seventh year, The Discover Virginia Food and Wine Festival brings together the area’s wineries and eateries for two days of tastings, music, and activities. Souvenir glasses fill with the claret and golden hues of unlimited samples from local wineries such as Mountain Cove Vineyards, Bright Meadows Farm, and Lazy Days Winery. Inside billowing, white tents, vendors such as Kira’s Crepes, Emergency Sugar Response, and Anderson’s Carriage Food House serve up fuel for more trips around the festival grounds and extended wine glass-centrifuging sessions. Live music fills the air throughout the day, such as the bluegrass strains of Gary Shifflett and the Shenandoah Shakers, the country crooning of Bennie Dodd, and The Honeybirds’ hodgepodge of jazz, country, rock, and bluegrass. Children’s activities keep kids engaged, such as barrel train rides and bobbing for tater tots.

About Discover Virginia
Discover Virginia hosts a variety of outdoor events that celebrate local wines, foods, and retailers in a family-friendly environment. During the annual food and wine festival, local vendors flock to Greene County to pour samples of Virginia-made wines and fresh bites as families enjoy activities such as live music and face painting. Especially popular is the yearly chili cook-off, which sets chefs against each other as they compete to see which recipes can set off the most fire sprinklers.
