A true Gladesman—who has over 35 years of experience exploring the Everglades—leads groups through the trails and among native vegetation like cypress trees, spanish moss, wildflowers, and grasses. Also a tracker, he can identify animal tracks and find wildlife for tour-goers to marvel at. Participants should wear long-sleeved shirts, pants, and closed-toe shoes.

$377 for a 4-hour swamp buggy and hiking combo tour for four ($753.50 value)

On this custom tour, small groups board Everglades Nature Tours vintage swamp buggy and ramble off into the depths of Big Cypress National Preserve. After a touring around the area’s hardwood forests and marshy wetlands, tour groups leave the buggy behind for a thrilling hike in the true Everglades backcountry. While each tour is different, groups can expect to explore one of the region’s signature cypress domes before returning to the buggy for the ride back to base

Everglades Nature Tours

As a passenger on Everglades Nature Tours' airboat, you could very well find yourself within reach of a prowling wild cat or a cold, majestic Florida gator—just be sure to keep your hands inside the boat. Led by expert guides and US Coast Guard–certified, 100-ton-rated captains who grew up in South Florida, the company's excursions plunge right into the untamed wilderness of the Florida Everglades and pine forests. Each narrated outing focuses on the natural history of this rich and diverse ecosystem as it illuminates visitors about the area's flora, fauna, and American Indian cultures.

Groups can traverse wooded trails or a 3-mile swath of shallow, grassy water by walking or riding in a propeller-powered airboat or a vintage swamp buggy, pausing only to drink in the scenery or obey the rules of a four-way stop. Each method has its own benefits, but they all allow for custom tours that aren't restricted by a hard and fast time limit. Whatever the tour, ENT's staff is well-versed in the area, as well as first aid and mechanical repairs, so all participants are in safe hands.

Customer Reviews

Our guide was superb. Knowledgeable and a lot of fun. Your pants and shoes get trashed but it's worth it.

There are many airboat tour companies to choose from. This one offers only private tours, and we enjoyed ours immensely. Our host Katie was extremely nice, and Captain Ozzie was knowledgeable and provided an exciting and fun experience. Esi, who handled our booking, was efficient and easy to work with. The owner of the company is a veteran.
