Q:

Two questions: 1) What programming language does this course have learners use? 2) Can I use it to create an iPad app on a Windows machine, or do I need to have a Mac?

Laura G.  asked on  Apr 7, 2013

A:

Apple iOS uses Xcode which is based on the Objective C programming language. Android uses the Java programming language. In order to create an iPad app you will need a Mac running Apple's Standard Development Kit which includes Xcode (explained fully in the course). In order to create an app for Android devices you can either use a PC or a Mac.

Q:

When I link to the company website, I see that it is a primarily UK (England) based company. The apps. that are associated with the head instructors are not available in the US markets. Will this course be useful if I would be planning on working on an app in the US market?

Susan  asked on  Apr 8, 2013

A:

Apple and Android are global companies so there is no difference in designing and developing an app for any country in the world. For example we offer the course in several languages.

Q:

Can you tell me what software I will need to own/purchase after completing the course in order use the tools learned to build and app.?

Steve F.  asked on  Apr 5, 2013

A:

The tool used to create iOS (iPhone and iPad) apps is Apple's Xcode. The tool used to create Android apps is the Android SDK. Both software packages are free to use, but you will need to OK a license agreement (as with all software) and pay a small subscription fee to Apple or Google if you want to publish your apps in their official online stores.

Q:

Does it teach you how to program an app?

Roan F.  asked on  Apr 5, 2013

A:

Unit 10 teaches you how to program for iOS and Android. By the end of the course you should be perfectly positioned to build and go to market with your first app. If the idea of programming doesn't excite you, that's no problem: We'll explain how to work together with a programmer. Please take a look at the syllabus here: http://apps.excelwithbusiness.com/Syllabus.aspx

Klaudia  asked on  Apr 4, 2013

A:

Sorry for the confusion, 'Excel with Business' is the name of the company that offers the App Design Course.
