What You'll Get
Today's Groupon offers a pole-based exercise more effective than 1920s pole sitting, more energizing than pole-vaulting, and more sensual than polenta. For $15, you get one ladies-only Pole-ah-Tease introductory dance class (a $30 value) at Express MiE Dance Fitness in Tempe. Classes are held three times a week. Click here to see the schedule (choose the Pole-Ah-Tease tab up top, and the Pole-Ah-Tease intro class in the drop-down menu).
If you shy away from shaking it outside the comfort of your bedroom or holodome, this 90-minute intro to pole dancing is designed for you. The girls-only facility will boost your confidence and raise your heart rate through its Pole-ah-Tease class, which blends deep stretching with dance techniques from burlesque, ballet, Pilates, and more—all centered around a steel pole that's been tempered to withstand the sheer male-melting power of your sexy slither.
Pole dancing tones your muscles, improves your posture, and is a fun alternative to digging a hole for an in-ground pool. A powerful core and toned extremities will also put you in terrific shape for future shadow-puppet theater performances. Climb the heights to physical empowerment and discover that a pole can be decorated by much more than barber stripes and yard-sale signs.

About Express MiE
Dance can be healing. Studio founder Christie knows this better than anyone, having turned to sensual dance as an outlet after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. Her newfound practice not only set her on a healthier path, it also made her feel more confident and feminine as well. She was hooked, and opened Express MiE to share that same feeling with other women.
Today, Christie and her staff start each of Express MiE’s sultry fitness classes with a guided meditation. That’s because the studio prioritizes finding and trusting inner beauty over learning snazzy pole tricks. And while the moves are certainly sensual, they’re inspired less by the promiscuity of romance novels or flirtatious barbershop poles than by techniques from ballet, ballroom, and belly dancing. This winning combination led the Phoenix New Times to name the studio Best Place to Learn to Pole Dance in 2010, noting that the instructors “are serious about developing core strength and six-pack abs by wrapping and gyrating around poles and cheering each other on.”
