If you can go in the day time when the kids are in school, it's quiet and no competition for space.

What You'll Get

After the failure of diplomatic thumb wars and jurisprudent rap battles to solve squatters' disputes, baseball was devised to determine who can safely call home home and who needs to be out. Verify a victor with today's Groupon to Extra Innings in Woburn. Choose between two options:

  • For $75, you get a five-day baseball skills clinic from February 21¬¬¬–25 for players 7–13 years old (a $150 value).
  • For $20, you get a one-hour hitting-tunnel rental (a $40 value).

Extra Innings houses more than 15,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor baseball-training space in which baseballers can improve their hitting skills and compete in a controlled environment year-round. Rent one of Extra Innings' four multi-use hitting tunnels, each of which accommodates up to 10 people, for a one-hour showdown between man and machine or pitcher and hitter. Tunnel equipment includes L-screens, pitching mounds, adjustable pitching machines, and scores of practice balls. Swat human-slung spheres from the sky like Godzilla destroying hot air balloons or disguise the pitching machine as a Cy Young winner and watch it ignore your friends’ requests for autographs.

Budding batters and precocious pitchers may prefer the five-day February-vacation baseball clinic, a chance for 7- to 13-year-olds to hone fundamental baseball skills rather than learning more risky maneuvers, such as stealing bases and mixing them with acids. Players rotate through stations within the facility, each station with its own focus, and learn in small groups from attentive instructors. Lunch is not served, but there is a snack break during which kids can eat sandwiches brought from home or bake soufflés in ovens brought from home. Classes run 9 a.m.–1 p.m. from February 21–25.

About Extra Innings

No matter the weather outside, the conditions are always right at Extra Innings, a 15,000 square foot indoor baseball and softball training facility. The facility includes four batting and pitching tunnels, each of which is 70 feet in length and equipped with an adjustable pitching machine, an L-screen for live batting practice, and a pitching mound. If players want more help, they can turn to Extra Innings' instructors, many of whom are former or current professional players and college all-stars. These experts use a uniform step-by-step teaching system to help students develop their swings, improve their fielding, and learn to only exclaim "I got it!" if they're about to catch a fly ball or have just been told a joke. For a break, players can visit an on-site pro-shop full of name-brand gear, or they can even arrange a shindig in the party area to celebrate birthdays and special victories.
