A tortilla makes a handy mouse pad, an acceptable patch for stiff denim jeans, and, if you draw a face on it, an ideal companion on fishing trips. Today's Groupon proves there are many other uses, too: for $15, you get $30 worth of fresh, Latin-style fare and drinks at Fajitas Grill, located on the East Side by the corner of Farwell Avenue and Brady Street.

A mix of updated and classic Mexican-style dishes, Fajitas Grill's menu is stuffed with homemade, fresh ingredients and made-from-scratch tortillas. Chef Arturo Napoles cooks up starters like the queso fundido, a melted combination of Chihuahua and Oaxaca cheeses ($7), as well as shrimp cazuela, a spicy union of garlic and huajillo-pepper sauce with sautéed shrimp ($8). Fajitas attract taste buds with several sizzling options, which include pork with roasted pineapple ($16), veggies sautéed with garlic and olive oil ($15), and sautéed bacon with chicken or steak ($17). All entrees are paired with homemade tortillas, refried beans, and either Cuban or Mexican rice for a pillowy food mattress.

Sleek and modern, Fajitas Grill's interior also features retro accents for a low-key, yet trendy vibe suitable for rappers in a witness-protection program. Finish off the meal with freshly made churros rolled in cinnamon and sugar and served with two Bailey's Irish Cream hot-chocolate shooters ($7), or just douse your palate with a fire hose of multi-flavored margaritas and mojitos. This Groupon is good for dine-in only. Fajitas Grill is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Fajitas Grill was featured in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Third Coast Digest, and OnMilwaukee.com. Three Google Mappers give the restaurant five stars, and five Yelpers give it an average rating of four stars:

Fajitas Grill

Fajitas Grill is a place where the staff envisions families creating new memories over plates of authentic Mexican cuisine. In the cheerful space, decorated with artwork and warm colors, the kitchen staff serves up the sizzling fajitas that the spot is named for. Each dish is loaded with ingredients such as grilled steak, garden veggies, and pork with roasted pineapple. These flavorful meats and vegetables also get piled onto handmade tortillas and rolled into enchiladas. Thirsty patrons can pair meals with a glass of wine or a margarita made with smooth, oak-aged tequila.

Customer Reviews

They do validate for parking which was a nice surprise as well. The art displayed was beautiful and for sale. Our host and waiter were super. Food was wonderful and I especially loved the chips prior to the meal. Actually tried to reply through Fajitas Grill's website but it would not take my comments.

Now that they have moved downtown they are busier between 7:30 with peak time at about 8:30. We made reservations for 6:15 and got right in. Our waiter also told us that they will have valet parking beginning next week. Attentive and pleasant wait staff. Plus...the food is delicious.
