Q:

im looking to purchase this for my sister and her boyfriend. they are both from northern california and have never been to San Diego. they will only be in town the weekend of june the 8th and 9th. is this weekend available or is it already sold out? and how do you reserve a day?

emily c.  asked on  May 6, 2013

A:

Some sessions are sold out, some are still available. You can view our schedule at http://www.familykayak.com/san-diego-area As soon as you purchase your vouchers just call or email with your voucher numbers, the number of adults, number of children and their ages, and the date and time you want. If there is space still available we will respond with a confirmation.

Q:

How much paddling is required? More than 2 hours? I'm in fairly good shape, but have some bursitis in one of my shoulders.

Cathy H.  asked on  May 5, 2013

A:

During the 3-hour session, we spend about 30 minutes getting folks fitted in life vests, talking about safety and giving on-land instruction. Then we are on the water for 2-2.5 hours. I recommend you bring a big strong partner who can paddle for you if your shoulder gives out.

Q:

I have 5 in my family as well (re:above question). If we need only two kayaks (one with myself and two little ones), we purchase two tickets? Is this correct?

c r.  asked on  May 5, 2013

A:

Every person going in a kayak needs a ticket. So if you have an extra child you will need to purchase one additional child ticket.

Q:

Can a 15 year old go on a kayak without a parent

larry j.  asked on  May 4, 2013

A:

A 15-year-old is considered an adult so they could paddle with another adult or a child.

Q:

There are five in our family. I would ride with our 9 year old. Could my husband ride with two children ages 7 years and 6 years? Will the kayak allow for that space? This sounds great!

Allison S.  asked on  May 3, 2013

A:

Typically kids 6 and under can ride as a 3rd person in our kayaks. They do not have their own seat, but we put down a cushion in the bottom of the kayak for them to sit on. The 3rd person would not have their own paddle, but they can share with a partner.

Q:

is there a weight limit on the Kayak?

Sylvia L.  asked on  May 3, 2013

A:

Each kayak holds up to 400 lbs. So the total weight of two people would need to be under 400 lbs.
