Yes, we can transfer 8mm video tapes to DVD and this Groupon offering includes this format. If full, the tapes could contain two hours of footage.

Q:

Ihave 6 video tapes with my girls when they were young. What pkg do I need to buy?

Judy S.  asked on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

unfortunately we cannot tell how much video footage you actually have on those six tapes to be able to guide you as to which offer is best. a videotape can be recorded at three speeds meaning that if full, it could have two hours, four hours or even six hours of material.

Q:

Hi - Please confirm that the Groupon offered is not valid for 8mm film to DVD transfer. Just making sure. Thanks!

Lisa S.  asked on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

correct. this particular offering is just for the transfer of videotape, not film. it can be confusing because there is 8mm film and 8mm videotape. we do transfer both film and videotape. the film cost is eighteen cents per foot plus $29.95 for each two hour DVD required. approx. 1700 feet of film can fit onto a two hour dvd

Q:

What if you have short amounts on multiple videotapes? Could many then fit on one DVD?

Patricia P.  asked on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

If your tapes contain less than two hours of material, we can combine up to four tapes onto the same DVD for no addtl. fee. Addtl tapes added to the same disc after the initial four tapes will be billed at $5 per tape.

Q:

When you transfer the video to disk, will we be able to skip a certain section? For example, if was video taping my daughter learning how to ride a bike, and I did this four times. Will I be able to skip one as I'm watching it to get to the next? Will they be indexed at all like scene selection at the beginning of a movie on DVD?

Susan S.  asked on  Feb 4, 2013

A:

Thanks for finding Family Ties. We do not add chapter or index markers within a tape. However if you were transferring three different tapes to a single DVD each tape would have a menu item listing so you can jump between tapes.
