This three-day film and comic fest celebrating horror, sci-fi and fantasy in all their various combinations and configurations boasts special appearances by some of the greats of the genre, including seven-time Oscar winner Rick Baker and Freddy Krueger himself, Robert Englund. Unspooling at Santa Rosa's Roxy Stadium 14, Silver Scream not only screens films by up-and-coming creative talent, but also pays tribute to masters of the form with showings of A Nightmare on Elm Street and New Nightmare by the late Wes Craven, featuring appearances by Englund and actress Heather Langenkamp. Makeup master Rick Baker and director John Landis are set to attend in honor of the 35th anniversary of their work An American Werewolf in London as well. You'll also be treated to live art demos by Rob Prior, known for his recent Star Wars work, and a live werewolf makeup application from Cinema Makeup School alumni and Face Off season 10 contender Walter Welsh. There's a weekend pass available, as well as single-day tickets.
Most festival films do not have MPAA ratings attached. Parents should carefully read film descriptions and use their discretion when considering what might be appropriate for their children.
