Fat Head's Brewery
Most people call them sandwiches, but at Fat Head's Brewery, they're "Headwiches." Each one, piled high with at least two meats, is roughly the size of your head. That means every time a visitor orders, say, the The Pull Monty—pulled pork, bacon, jalapeños, and slaw—there's a brief moment of contemplation on how to eat it. Do you cut it with a knife and fork, karate-chop it in two, or simply bite into it? Whatever choice you make, your mouth is rewarded with a harmonious blend of flavors.
Like the sandwiches, the craft beers are big, with high alcohol contents and bold tastes. Below are some of the award-winning beers you might find on tap:
Hop Juju imperial IPA: This ultra-hoppy beer (9% ABV) has notes of citrus, pine, and tropical fruit. It captured a gold medal in the imperial IPA category at the 2013 Great American Beer Festival.
Alpenglow weizenbock: This strong German wheat beer (8.7% ABV) features soft toasted caramel malt flavors. It took the gold in the German-style wheat category at the 2014 Great American Beer Festival.
Battle Axe Baltic porter: This dark brew (8.6% ABV) gives off aromas of chocolate, dark fruit, and molasses. It won a silver medal in the Baltic-style porter category at the World Beer Cup in 2012.
