Seeing the world by bike beats seeing the world by bus, as bus tours are often ruined by engine exhaust, construction detours, and guides who deliver facts by honking them in Morse code. Enjoy the calm of a two-wheeled trek with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

  • $49 for a two-hour bike tour of Falmouth for two (a $100 value)
  • $75 for the above tour for four (a $200 value)

Bike rental is included, though customers are free to use their own bikes. If using your own bike, please contact the business for details.

The tours depart Tuesday–Sunday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Holiday Cycles. Tours pedal past Falmouth beach and harbor, downtown Falmouth, Nobska Lighthouse, the Steamship Authority Terminal, and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. In addition to these scenic ventures, groups will stop at the home of Katharine Lee Bates—who wrote the lyrics to "America, The Beautiful"—and duck into Nimrod Restaurant's men's room, which was hit by a cannonball during the War of 1812; the cannonball and its hole are still on display.

The line to the men's room at Nimrod Restaurant is peculiar because it usually contains both men and women. Near the restroom's doorway, gatherers careen and crane their necks to see a 200-year-old hole and the projectile that created it: a cannonball from the War of 1812. This hands-on history lesson is one of many elucidated by the guides at Phat Tire Bike Tours. They backdrop their classroom against the scenic sights of crashing waves, lush gardens, and bustling downtown shops. Seated on personal bikes or rental bikes that correctly answer the question, "What's my favorite color?", groups can set out on tours of places such as Falmouth, Plymouth, Martha's Vineyard, or Nantucket.
