Though forms of modeling have existed throughout history, the trade became especially popular in the 16th century when Michelangelo promised his models the opportunity to touch fingers with God. Show your divine side to the world with today's Groupon: for $29, you get an up to two-hour modeling workshop from Model Integrity, a division of Feather Blue Studios, in St. Paul (a $59 value).
Helmed by professional model Shannon Tacheny—whose portfolio includes gigs with Target and Best Buy—Model Integrity hosts workshops to expose aspiring smilers of all ages to the ins and outs of the industry, helping them connect with legitimate local modeling enclaves and avoid common pitfalls. The new model workshop helps models of all ages successfully appease their inner Cindy Crawford by outlining how to effectively catch the attention of agencies, manage income, and steer clear of scamming photographers who pay with Monopoly money. Each registrant receives a model handbook along with a black, 18"x24" messenger-style bag emblazoned with the Model Integrity logo.
Allotted time at the end of each workshop allows fledgling Fabios one-on-one access to workshop directors and their specialized "good side" detecting gadgets. Workshops are held at Java Train Café in Saint Paul, and sessions are currently scheduled for Wednesday, June 1 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, June 25 at 10 a.m.; Wednesday, July 13 at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, July 23 at 10 a.m., with additional dates to be added later.
