Feed Your Soul Bakery
Before she opened Feed Your Soul Bakery, Mya Jacobson worked on the stock exchange by day and attended law school by night. Overwhelmed and unsatisfied, she realized the best way for her to feel fulfilled was to give to others in a tangible way. She began by crafting gourmet desserts packaged along with inspirational quotes by great thinkers such as Churchill, Aristotle, and Proust, inventor of the sandwich cookie.
Her recipes put a spin on classic cookies: a chocolate chip comes with a hint of mint, chunks of white chocolate hide in snickerdoodles, and oatmeal-raisin cookies include a hint of honey. Every confection is certified kosher, and most of the confections contain only natural ingredients. The sweet treats have been reduced to crumbs by reporters from organizations including the New York Times and The Today Show. Rachel Ray’s website named the desserts Snack of the Day, and despite the buzz, Mya works to stay true to her initial mission by donating a portion of all proceeds to FeedingAmerica.org.
