What You'll Get
Pizza is traditionally circular, as its original octagonal shape caused patrons to simply stare at it and wait for the diner on their right to move. Pave your throat’s thoroughfare with cheese with today's Groupon: for $12, you get $25 worth of pizza, pasta, and drinks for dine-in only at Felix and Oscar's, valid at the restaurant's locations in Des Moines or West Des Moines.
Felix and Oscar's menu bursts with pizzas plastered with more than 15 toppings and pasta dishes ladled with homemade meat sauce. Cooks roll cutters through 17 specialty pizzas ($17.95+ for a large) baked atop three styles of crust, including authentic Chicago-style deep pan, traditional thin crust, and the signature cheese topper style that blankets deep-pan pies with mozzarella, cheddar, and romano cheeses. Several pies can claim gluten-free status, as can such specialty pastas as the Penne Tomas ($12.95), a cavalcade of italian sausage, roasted peppers, and portabella mushrooms. The chicken-parmesan sandwich ($8.75) wraps marinara, mozzarella, and seasoned chicken breast in a bready cocoon so that diners can carry it with them while they explore underneath the table. Since Chicago-style pizzas bake for about half an hour, those who plan to dine-in can call ahead to expedite orders. View the full menu on Felix & Oscar's website.

About Felix and Oscar’s
Even with Chicago's skyline some 300 miles away up I-80, the taste of Felix and Oscar’s deep-dish pizzas seem to bring it into focus. Its chefs pile up to 15 toppings on their authentic Windy City–style pies, layering Hormel bacon, pepperoni, and Graziano’s italian sausage beside less traditional add-ons, such as sauerkraut or shrimp. They ladle housemade meat sauce atop regular or gluten-free pasta and supplement their comestibles with imported beers and California wines. For diners on the go, Felix and Oscar’s allows customers to place their orders ahead of time to reduce the time they have to wait in the seating area. The pie-smiths also keep galas well fed with their in-house party rooms or offsite catering.
