Sharing a meal can be a great way to keep friends together without moving into the same house or constantly dissenting during jury deliberations. Reach a unanimous decision with today's Groupon: for $20, you get $40 worth of pub fare and drinks at Ferg’s Sports Bar and Grill in St. Petersburg.
Founded by Tampa sports enthusiast Mark Ferguson, Ferg’s Sports Bar and Grill fuels camaraderie and athletic spectatorship with a menu of comfort fare beneath a plethora of televisions. Flag down servers to acquire Triple Play sliders stacked with onions and cheese ($6.99), or attack the full-size Bender burger’s strata of bacon and blue cheese ($7.99) like a hungry, hungry hippo that has been to finishing school.
As teams of friends feast on hot dogs, pizzas, or boneless chicken wings ($7.99) bathed in one of nine sauces, which include teriyaki and chipotle options, their eyes drink in the latest gridiron battles and hockey feuds from a high-top table or counter bar. Local memorabilia clings to the walls, creating an aura of awe and athletic fervor that fuels loyal boosters and helps diners with enormous, colorful fingers fit in. Music, trivia, and other events fill the wood-paneled pub to the rafters with the sound of clinking glasses.
Ferg's Sports Bar and Grill
Ferg's Sports Bar and Grill sprang from humble beginnings. What started in 1992 as a gas station with 40 seats has since grown into a two-story establishment whose sprawling indoor and outdoor seating areas encompass almost two city blocks. Like the growth of the business, the bar and grill's building materials reflect input from the surrounding community: the wood flooring was compiled from area gymnasiums, and the walls are paneled with hardwood from the old All Children's Hospital.
Owner Mark Ferguson continues to fuel his success with more than 88 TVs, classic bar eats (1/2 lb. burgers, wings, steaks, seafood, ribs), and a calendar filled with live-music and trivia nights.
