What You'll Get

Irish roots run deep in the South -- you can hear it in the Celtic-influenced bluegrass music brought over by Appalachian settlers, and you can see it in the 14-member Willis Clan, the Nashville family who honors their heritage by producing a winning mix of traditional folk, country and pop. Stars of their own TLC series and favorites at the Grand Ole Opry, the Willis family recently released their third album, an Irish pop disc called Heaven. They'll be joined by Dublin's own Grammy-nominated singer-guitarist John Doyle for this special 1916 Centenary concert, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising in Ireland, which led to that country's independence. Also on tap is an excerpt from a new show, We Have Risen, which commemorates that journey to freedom through drama, dance and song, while adding a historic African-American viewpoint. The Consulate General of Ireland sponsors this show at the Ferst Center for the Arts at Georgia Tech.
