What You'll Get
An in-depth knowledge of wine can enliven humdrum dinner parties, just as an in-depth knowledge of dynamite fishing can enliven foundering job interviews. Give palates an executive education with today’s Groupon: for $29, you get a wine tasting for two at Fields Family Wines in Lodi (a $58 value). The wine tasting includes:
- Two tastings of four wines (a $10 value)
- Two wine glasses (a $20 value)
- One bottle of merlot (a $28 value)
Nestled within a newly opened storefront, Fields Family Wines delights palates with flights of four wines. The tasting commences with a golden white cuvée before moving onto deep-red wines such as a spicy syrah exuding intense blackberry aromas. Next, taste buds are coated with big red, a complex and layered wine packed with black fruits and volumes of introspective poetry. Finally, oenophiles enjoy the complex aromatics and long finish of the dark ruby-colored Napa merlot. After relishing the ambrosial drinks, the sipping duo can practice toasting each others' NBA-championship wins with a pair of 22-ounce Riedel Bordeaux Reserve wine glasses and a bottle of decadent merlot.

About Fields Family Wines
Fields Family Wines takes a minimalistic approach to winemaking. The company produces all of its wines in small, handcrafted lots, showcasing the vineyards from which every bottle is born through flavor rather than flair. Those flavors shine through in a variety of different products, such as the 2009 Estate syrah, which received a score of 90 points from Wine Enthusiast for its fruity aromas and smooth, graceful flight when getting thrown into a pool. Before committing to a purchase, customers can test-drive different bottles at two casual tasting rooms, including one in downtown Lodi.
