Q:

If I join and then reserve two seats for an event, will the two seats be together and next to each other in the venue?

Serra S.  asked on  May 24, 2013

A:

Yes you will be seated together. I have only heard of one instance over the last 4 years where a couple arrived at an event and were asked to sit separately. It was in a small store front theater that only had 66 seats. Have fun.

Yes you are free to join. If you don't mind the drive.

Q:

Are the tickets that are offered typically done so on a last-minute basis? Seems that would be likely. Let me know. Thanks.

Steve J.  asked on  May 22, 2013

A:

Ticket reservation for available shows is on a first come, first serve basis. Members are welcome to inquire about particular shows/events and we will be happy to inform you of current or future availability, but there is no guarantee. For more information, here.

A:

We usually get 3 to 10 days notice on events. Sometimes we will get only a day or two, but not regularly.

Q:

Are there any plans to offer this Groupon in other FillASeat cities?

Ann V.  asked on  May 22, 2013

A:

Most other Fillaseat cities work with Groupon. But the daily deals vary and the timing varies.

Q:

If I understand this correctly, I pay $45 for a year's membership. After that, I can get 2 FREE tickets to any event that you are offering. There is no limit to the number of events that I can attend in a year. All I spend is $45. In other words, the event's sponsors/promoters would rather give away free tickets than leave their seats unfilled. This is like the TKTS booth in Times Square, only better. Am I correct?

Charles G.  asked on  May 22, 2013

A:

Yes, you are correct. You pay an annual membership and then you can reserve seats to any of the events we have listed on the site. We have had members attend over 30 events in a year. No additional fees. Sometimes a comedy club or nightclub will have a drink minimum, about once a year we will get a discount ticket offer we cannot pass up (usually a very big name concert at an extremely deep discount - like 75% off). But for almost all events. No additional cost admission cost.

Q:

Are the events only in DC or do include the surrounding areas such as Northern VA? It would be great to get an idea as to how many miles in/around DC this encompasses.

Tisa C.  asked on  May 21, 2013

A:

We plan on offering events throughout the entire metro area. Thanks for asking. Unfortunately, we are just getting started in the DC area and do not have a comprehensive list of venues we will be working with. Also, even if we did have a list we could not share it with you. The venues depend upon us and our members to keep mum regarding our seat-filling activities. They use us when they need some extra bodies and that can be both unpredictable and disquieting to paying patrons. The venues are trying to sell as many tickets as possible before letting us know they would like more "bodies." The shows/events are usually posted 3 to 10 days in advance. But this can vary quite a bit. Sometimes there is only a day or two notice. Sometimes a theater will give us seats to every performance of a play's run. The best part is that once you pay for your membership, you pay nothing for the rest of the year. You can reserve one or two seats to any event that we have posted that is not sold out. On very rare occasions there will be super high dollar tickets offered at very very deep discount. But that only happens about once a year. We have members in other cities that will see 30 events or more in a year. All for a half-price membership. In our other 19 cities we have offered seats to just about every sort of event you can imagine this side of kangaroo boxing (still waiting for that). In the last 3 months in a nearby city we have offered seats to a big name metal band, a highly esteemed Shakespeare company, a Broadway road show, Arena football, a Professional Gymnastics event, a circus, a benefit concert with hall of fame caliber rock acts, classical symphony, and non-profit gala- wine and cheese tasting.

Q:

I live an hour away and could only go on weekends. Do you know about what percentage of the events are available for the week vs. the weekend?

Wendy M.  asked on  May 20, 2013

A:

We do not keep stats on which days of the week offerings occur, but I would estimate that about half of the events offered are on Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Hi Dina, there is no additional cost to use this Groupon...and there's no additional cost for the event tickets themselves. That's the value of your annual membership.
