FilmOut San Diego is giving you the rare chance to see one of the best musical-comedy films of the past 35 years on the big screen when Blake Edwards' Victor/Victoria plays at the Landmark Theatres Hillcrest Cinemas. Julie Andrews stars in the film as Victoria, a struggling soprano, who's in desperate financial straits when she meets gay impresario Toddy, who is also looking for his big break. Together they concoct a scheme for Victoria to masquerade as a female impersonator named Victor. In her new guise, "Victor" becomes the toast of "Gay Paree," but things become complicated when a big-time mobster sees Victoria's act and becomes attracted to him ... er, her. The Academy Award-winning score by Henry Mancini and Lesley Bricusse features such songs as "Le Jazz Hot" and "The Shady Dame From Seville."
