Q:

Is toe nail fungus completely removed with one visit ?

Rick B.  asked on  Jul 23, 2012

A:

Good Morning Rick, The fungus is not completely removed during your visit. It is treated with a laser during your visit. I give you pre & post treatment instructions that need to be followed to help reduce reinfection. Depending on the thickness of the nail and fungus you may require more than one treatment. Because of this I have included in the groupon one additional treatment at 6 weeks and one follow up at 4 months. Treating nail fungus with our Cutera laser is safe, effective and helps irradicate the fungus. We need your help to make sure you do not reinfect yourself. Your shoes must be sprayed daily with a disenfectant, wear new clean socks daily, topical antifungals applied daily. I have a list of things that need to be done pre and post to help this treatment to be sucessful. Great question!

I need to mention that the nail needs to grow out. Depending on which nail it may take 6-12 months to completely grow out.

Q:

Hi, I'm interested in having this done. My left great toe nail has been removed by a doctor because it was ingrown. It occasionally grows back, however it's irregular in shape and it grows into my toe's skin, which is very painful. My right great toe is now thick, yellow and it's apparant it's due to a fungal infection. Will this laser therapy assist with my condition? Also, is there any chance that this laser therapy will assist my left toe nail to go back healthy? Thanks

Atheer J.  asked on  Jul 23, 2012

A:

Good Afternoon Atheer, The toenail that has the fungus will be effectively treated with our laser. You will have to follow my pre and post treatment instructions. Your left toe from what I read is not infected with fungus. Since this is the case the laser will not change how this nail regrows. When your doctor removed the nail he/she disrupted the growth of the ingrowing nail intentionally so it would not grow back.
