What You'll Get
Stomachs only growl when they’re hungry or preparing to bite the hand that keeps tickling them. Tame the beast within with today’s Groupon: for $32, you get a Southwestern dinner for two at Fire + Spice (up to a $64 value). The dinner includes:
- Two soups or salads (a $3 value each)
- Two entrees (up to a $24 value each)
- Two glasses of house wine (a $5 value each)<p>
Fire + Spice’s menu infuses Southwestern cuisine with Native American recipes and spices, peppers, and cheeses from Spain and Mexico. As diners sip red or white house wines, tortilla strips perform synchronized swimming routines atop a bowl of tortilla soup flavored with fresh avocado and asadero cheese to prepare palates for piquant entrees. For dinner, the bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin bathes in chile-garlic-butter sauce wrapped in applewood-smoked bacon, a method of preparing bacon first pioneered by folk hero Johnny Baconseed. Diners stuff fists full of fish tacos loaded with pan-seared basa, southwest cabbage, and cotija cheese, or fork-excavate breaded chicken breast stuffed with chorizo, pico de gallo, and asadero cheese doused in chipotle cream. Though not included with today’s deal, a happy hour menu is available Monday–Friday from 3 p.m.-5 p.m., offering specials on well drinks, draft beers, and glasses of house wine ($3.50 each) as well as noshes such as a half-dozen wings caramelized in a prickly-pear and jalapeno glaze ($6). Live jazz bands regale diners and time-traveling flappers on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights.
