What You'll Get
Art is hard, especially when fortified by the flames of a sintering kiln. Make a piece of sturdy, ceramic eye candy with today's deal: for $10, you get $20 worth of paint-your-own pottery at Fire Works Ceramics in Mountain View.
Family-owned Fire Works Ceramics invites would-be artisans and workaday cube workadayers to relax and explore pottery painting in a bright, airy studio. Choose from a plentiful stock of pieces to glaze and take home, give to a friend, or use as a counterweight in a grain elevator (most pieces cost about $20 and all are poured on site). Decorate a mug, bowl, or salad plate and spend every meal admiring the deft brushstrokes applied by hand. Hand-painted vases, banks, and boxes provide stylish storage for flowers, coins, and a collection of celebrity-used toothpicks. Upon completion, your piece will be fired and ready to pick up in a week. Use your Groupon for a creative spin on a girls' night out or date.

About Fire Works Ceramics
Inside, Fire Works Ceramics’ studio looks more like a cozy cottage than a storefront, its shelves of blank ceramics and hardwood tables awash in sunlight as they wait to be painted at handsome kitchen tables. Visiting artists take their pick of blank mugs, dishes, vases, and figurines, all poured in-house rather than sourced from archaeologists’ garage sales. After decking out their chosen piece in as many colors as they like, guests surrender them to staff to receive a coating of glaze and a trip into the kiln. In addition to walk-in sessions, the studio can also host birthdays, bridal showers, and butterfingers’ support groups.
