$62 for a Conceal-Carry-Handgun Class ($125 Value)
In the approximately eight-hour North Carolina concealed-handgun-carry course, instructors certified by the North Carolina Department of Justice qualify students to apply for a state concealed-handgun permit that has reciprocity in more than 30 states. Classroom work focuses on topics such as legal definitions, cleaning and maintenance of a handgun, handling ammunition, and the principles of basic marksmanship. Students must then pass a written examination and a shooting-proficiency test, composed of landing at least 28 of 40 rounds on the center mass of a silhouette target from 3, 5, and 7 yards away. Each small-group class is scheduled on weekends from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Students must bring their own handguns—no .22 calibers allowed—and at least 50 rounds. They must also bring eye and ear protection, which includes a hat or cap with a brim, and lunch. The class assumes students are familiar with operating their own handgun; those with little to no experience using their own gun are encouraged to take the firearms orientation class first, which is not included with this deal.
