First Dixie Cafe
If First Dixie Cafe's name doesn't make it clear visitors are dining in the Lone Star state, the restaurant's decor certainly does. Texas stars, longhorns, and a brown-and-white cowhide adorn the walls, as well as a sign advising patrons to do something each day that makes them happy.
For diners, that something is likely enjoying a hearty breakfast. First Dixie's chefs scramble, poach, and boil farm-fresh eggs, and top pancakes and crepes with whipped cream and fresh berries. During lunch and dinner, cooks stack reubens high with homemade corned beef, grill rib eyes to order, and bake meatloaf using an old-fashioned recipe that calls into question the validity of amateurs' World's Greatest Cook aprons.
