What You'll Get
Like fishing for compliments, fishing for fish requires the right bait, the right line, and a friend who is willing to exaggerate. Reel it in with today's Groupon: for $90, you get a half-day charter-boat fishing trip from Fishin' with Capt. Gus in Denver (up to a $250 value).
With more than 50 years of fishing experience, Captain Gus Gustafson leads a team of expert guides on fin-spotting expeditions across the lake’s placid waters. Drawing on decades of experience, electronic spotting equipment, and dispatches from bass double agents, the professional anglers whisk up to six guests on a four-hour jaunt from one fish hot spot to another. Light tackle places focus on technique during tussles with hooked prey, and neophyte and veteran fishermen alike benefit from instruction and tips doled out by the venerable guides.
Trips embark year-round, and fish such as stripers, catfish, bass, crappie, and vacationing narwhals glide along Lake Norman's 520-mile-long shoreline during all four seasons. Junior line casters ages 4 years and older are welcome to raise their first gilled trophy on one of Captain Gus's boats. Passengers are also equipped with all necessary flotation and safety devices. A valid North Carolina fishing license and permission slip signed by Jacques Cousteau is required to embark on the trip. Up to five additional people may join ($50/person).
Though Fishin' with Capt. Gus sometimes features a discounted price online, this Groupon still offers the best deal available.

About Fishin' With Capt. Gus
Since the early 1960s, Captain Gus Gustafson has wrangled scaly creatures from the depths of scenic Lake Norman. Experienced in both saltwater and freshwater fishing, Captain Gus and his experienced guides help first-timers and veterans reel in lunkers such as striped and largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, white perch, and mountain trout. Each trip departs on either a 23-foot center console or 25-foot pontoon boat, each equipped with state-of-the-art electronics such as GPS, depth finders, and a Big Mouth Billy Bass's public-domain mating calls.
