Like classic Hollywood films, tennis matches are filled with multiple loves, sneaky backhanded moves, and tense, sweat-inducing court scenes. Add some drama to your day with today's Groupon: for $49, you get six weeks of adult tennis classes through the Baseline program, plus full Gold membership for the duration of the classes, at Five Seasons Family Sports Club (a $115 value). The six-week class session begins after the first class and runs consecutively. This Groupon is for the Baseline program’s fall or spring sessions on the following dates:
- Fall (October 10–November 19, 2011) and spring (April 9–May 19, 2012) class times:
- Mondays 6 p.m.–7p.m.
- Tuesdays 8 a.m.–9 a.m.
- Thursdays 7 p.m.–8 p.m.
- Fridays 2 p.m.–3 p.m.
- Saturdays 11 a.m.–12 p.m., 12 p.m.–1 p.m., and 1 p.m.–2 p.m.
The six-week Baseline course, designed for adult beginners, offers all the perks of more complex programs without the long-term commitment. A certified tennis pro will teach the essentials of stroke technique, serving, and competing in the game with skill, not crossbows. Along the way, you practice what you learn against opponents, who won't laugh if you whiff the occasional serve or skin your shins and accidentally cry in your pants. More classes may be added based on demand (call the club for more information). If you don't have your own racket, the club will lend you one.
Throughout the six-week class session, tennis students also enjoy full access to the Five Seasons Family Sports Club as a temporary Gold member, which includes use of an indoor pool, indoor track, indoor basketball and racquetball courts, fitness and cardio areas, and studios to accommodate more than 50 group classes per week, including Pilates and aerobics. Visitors can also relax in saunas and whirlpools, grinning as they test the water absorbency of human teeth.
Five Seasons Family Sports Club
The Five Seasons Family Sports Club houses tennis courts, a dining area, fitness facilities, swimming pools, and a full-service spa under one roof. Within air-conditioned indoor courts or on outdoor hard or clay courts, racquet slingers compete in friendly bouts to sharpen swings, refine backhands, and showcase grunting abilities. Members can also break a sweat in exercise areas speckled with modern cardio equipment and weights or cool off in a pool with diving wells and wading areas. Before meeting others for a postgame beverage at the lively café, clients can wander to the spa for a relaxing massage or partake in a sports workshop to gain a firm grasp on game mechanics.
