In the volley of life, sometimes a whirling, fuzzy, green, bloodsucking critter is barreling toward your head and you just gotta smack it away. Today's deal gives rookie tennis players a chance to hone their skills against an opponent that's neither a wall nor Wii. For $35, you’ll get six weeks of group tennis classes through the Baseline program, plus full club access for the duration of the classes at Five Seasons Family Sports Club in Westlake (a $99 value). Your six weeks begin after your first class and run consecutively.
This six-week Baseline course is based on the ACE 2.0–2.5 Program. You'll get all the perks of the program without the commitment. A certified tennis pro will teach you and your fellow beginners the essentials of stroke technique, serving, and playing the game competitively, using skill, not crossbows. And you'll get to have fun practicing what you learn against opponents who won't laugh if you whiff the occasional serve or skin your shins and accidentally cry in your pants. Classes typically take place weekday mornings and weekend mornings and afternoons; more classes will be added based on demand (call the club for more information). If you don't have your own racquet, the club will loan you one.
During those six weeks, you'll also enjoy full access to the rest of Five Seasons as a temporary Gold Member, which includes an indoor pool, indoor track, indoor basketball, more than 100 cardio and strength machines, and studios to accommodate more than 50 group classes a week. You can also luxuriate in saunas, whirlpools, and a casual dining area with a bar, perfect for the between-gigs assassin, rapper, or both. Five Seasons provides all the amenities you need to stay fit and entertained during the Midwest's annual five seasons worth of winter, including admission to a welcoming reception, a Member Appreciation Party, and a Graduation Mixer.
Five Seasons Family Sports Club
The Five Seasons Family Sports Club houses tennis courts, a dining area, fitness facilities, swimming pools, and a full-service spa under one roof. Within air-conditioned indoor courts or on outdoor hard or clay courts, racquet slingers compete in friendly bouts to sharpen swings, refine backhands, and showcase grunting abilities. Members can also break a sweat in exercise areas speckled with modern cardio equipment and weights or cool off in an Olympic-sized pool with diving wells and wading areas. Before meeting others for a postgame beverage at the lively café, clients can wander to the spa for a relaxing massage or partake in a sports workshop to gain a firm grasp on game mechanics.
