What You'll Get
The pen is mightier than the sword, but that’s only because the pen spends three nights per week bench pressing paper clips. Stay in tiptop sharp-object-dodging shape with today’s Groupon: for $20, you get three one-hour Russian kettlebell classes (a $60 value) and a two-hour seminar on Saturday, June 25 (a $40 value) at Five Star Martial Arts in North Syracuse (up to a $100 value). Groupon holders may also substitute a regular kettlebell class for the June 25 seminar.
Five Star Martial Arts helps exercisers of all levels shape up and slim down with the cardio-and-weights combo of Russian kettlebell classes. A certified instructor leads each session, showing students how to safely lift the kettle-shaped weight and use it to brew imaginary tea. The introductory seminar on June 25 helps students develop proper form, integrating bells of different sizes to increase endurance and coordination. During one-hour classes, participants burn fat and build strength by working core and limb muscles, obviating the need for additional treadmill marathons or full-contact jumping jacks. Over the course of four sessions, kettlebellerinas firm their physiques for more confident strutting, gallivanting, and dallywagging. Classes take place Monday mornings, Wednesday afternoons, and Sunday evenings, beginning June 27.

About Five Star Martial Arts
Awarded Best Martial Arts School in the Family Times' 2012 Besties Awards, Five Star Martial Arts teaches kids and parents alike the rapid-fire movements of martial arts. During youth programs, students aged 4 and older build stamina, dexterity, and intelligence through disciplined instruction at the hands of seasoned masters. Alongside typical belt rankings, badges and stars reward younger students as they master flurries of kicks and punches. Adult students find their own fitness rewards during cardio kickboxing, which blends an international potpourri of martial arts moves with calisthenic and aerobic foundations to form an explosive full-body workout that targets and tones major muscle groups across the body.
Trainers pair their fitness expertise with motivational attitudes, working one on one with students to help them on their path towards achieving personal wellness goals. Classes unfold within Five Star Martial Arts' recently expanded studio. There, new equipment and installations including a Tumbl Trak, a massive foam pit, and a collection of polyplus climbing ropes help trainers add complex gymnastics-inspired exercises to their already sizable arsenal of workouts.
