Tres de Mayo
Start Cinco de Mayo a couple of days early at Tres de Mayo, a celebration of food, beer, and the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over the French. After arriving at Rawhide Western Town and Steakhouse’s recreated wild west, pairs can quench their thirst with tastings of 15 classic Mexican beers and two authentic margaritas. Live music and food vendors add to the atmosphere, with quick bites of Mexican favorites like tamales and tacos keeping energy high all night.
Tim Flanigan created the event-planning company that bears his name in order to quench beer enthusiasts' thirst while supporting worthy causes. His Beat the Heat WinterFest brings a much-needed frosty edge to summertime in Arizona, and the Spring Swing Beer Bash kicks off baseball season with cold glassfuls of hoppy, wheaty, and malty goodness. The festivals showcase local and internationally renowned breweries, from Phoenix's own Old World Brewery and Phoenix Ale Brewery to Stella Artois and Hoegaarden Brewery.
Past events, which have benefitted children's charities, have been held at the 30,000-square-foot Arizona Event Center and The Venue Scottsdale, whose stone walls, chandeliers, and retractable roof resemble the medieval football stadiums of yore.
