Flappers are remembered for their brazen disregard for social modesty, but rarely for their satirical Calvin Coolidge impersonations. Indulge in updated versions of Prohibition-era pranks with today's Groupon to Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank and Claremont. Choose from three options:
- For $99, you get a six-week adult comedy class (a $250 value).
- For $50, you get a four-week kids' comedy class (a $150 value).
- For $10, you get two tickets to any comedy show (up to a $44 value). This option can be used for one performance or two separate shows.
Owned by comedians Barbara Holliday and Dave Reinitz, Flappers Comedy Club features talented up-and-coming and already-up-and-came comics. Upcoming appearances for January include NBC's Last Comic Standing winner Josh Blue and 24-year comedy veteran Brad Upton, a past winner of the Las Vegas Comedy Festival. During the show, sip a drink (there's a two-item minimum) from Flappers' menu of libations.
Regular stage mavens and fledgling funnymen alike can find a class attuned to their experience level with Flappers' comedy classes, which are taught by experienced stand-up artists. Beginner courses start with a review of joke structure and language, while those more proficient at punch lines can pare down complicated funeral anecdotes to craft a more effective act. Children's classes employ sketches and theater games to teach improv and stage-direction basics, concluding with a showcase performance to leave parents, caregivers, and plush bears rolling on the ground.
