What You'll Get
Beaches are the ideal vacation destination and one of the only remaining places where it is acceptable to publicly eat an Italian beef sandwich in a state of near nudity. Enjoy the transgressive allure of the beach with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of drinks (tax included) plus free cover at Flip Flops in Midtown.
Deemed 2009's Best Beach Bar by Citysearch voters, Flip Flops is Midtown's indoor, beach-themed, sand-equipped nightlife retreat. Replete with frozen daiquiris, live music, and dancing, Flip Flops' casual atmosphere makes it Midtown's model libation oasis. For $8 each, you can sample some of the bar's nine frozen daiquiris; flavors include strawberry plucked from a rum-soaked vine, piña colada, and the summery firefly sweet-tea vodka. Flip Flops' two stories offer variations on the vacational theme. Beach-deprived office combatants can retire to the lower level for the comfort of a full-service bar, several large televisions, and a stage that hosts live bands that are so proficient in "Margaritaville" they can play it backward, revealing a surprisingly soothing Satanic subtext. There's also a patio for resting sealegs before heading upstairs, where a DJ or band graces an even larger stage, and the dance floor never lacks for pairs of sandaled feet.
Ace, of The Real World: Paris fame, is one of Flip Flops' owners, and in addition to being immortalized in the Louvre's famed Télévision-Réalité sculpture series, he brings years of beach expertise to Flip Flops' nightclub alternative, seaside vibe. Use your Groupon for a daiquiri- and sand-enhanced night out at Midtown's most exposed-toe-friendly bar.
Though opinions on the atmosphere are polarized, Flip Flops grabs a three-star average rating from Citysearchers, who made it the Best Beach Bar on the Best of Citysearch 2009. Yelpers give it an average of 3.5 stars.
- The owners are friendly, the bartenders are attentive, and the drinks are strong. Behind the bar sit a long row of frozen drink machines, all mixed to perfection. The live music on select nights is fantastic, and the crowd is young and attractive. – rathaus, Citysearch
- Flip Flops is my favorite casual bar in Atlanta. It is perfect if you want to go and have fun but you dont want to get really dressed up. It is always a great crowd and makes you feel like you are back in college again (in a good way). – foodie513, Citysearch

About Flip Flops
Flip Flops, like many tiki bars, has an easygoing ambiance, which is apparent as this brightly colored beach house stands amongst tall, plain city buildings. Its downstairs bar—which is covered in decor like surfboards, palm trees, and lights—features a patio, a stage for acoustic acts, and nine daiquiri machines that slush around concoctions like Firefly sweet tea vodka. Livelier action takes place upstairs, where DJs play thumping dance hits until 3 a.m. To fuel patron's party genes, the bar's pizza kitchen stays open until one hour before close.
