On Sunday, April 13, 2014, participants gather at Oleta River State Park starting at 9 a.m. before taking off on the approximately 8-mile Miami Spartan Super Race. Waves of 200 racers depart every 15 minutes thereafter. Participants will be challenged with a number of obstacles, which might include climbing walls and ropes, barbed wire, or mud. All racers receive a finisher's medal and a T-shirt. Though the race takes place at Oleta River State Park, all participants must check in at Florida International University, where there will be complimentary parking and a $5 shuttle to take them to the course.
Miami Spartan Super Race
Extreme athletes banded together to design Spartan Races' intense courses orchestrated over standardized distances, each strewn with natural and man-made obstacles to test mind-body fitness, resilience, stamina, and strength, designed to leave participants exhausted and exhilarated. Clad in event T-shirts, runners are smeared in smudges and stains as they slide unscathed under barbed wire and juke feral linebackers. Upon crossing the finish line, victors are awarded a participation medal, and the top three male and female runners each qualify for free entry to the next race-level up. Combatants can refuel with warm, savory food (available for purchase) as a DJ spins catchy tunes. Participants 21 and over will receive one free beer to celebrate their race completion.

In waves of 200, runners collect smudges and stains as they perform box jumps, haul heavy sandbags, and juke feral linebackers. Depending on where in the world they're participating, the course may be as short as 3 miles or, for extremely practiced athletes, as long as a full marathon.
