About Flying Dog Brewery

After climbing the life-taking k2 mountain in Pakistan, George Stranahan's eye was caught by something peculiar in his Pakistani hotel. A large painting of a flying dog resonated with Stranahan as he sat in his hotel, so much so that when he returned to his home of Colorado, he named his brewpub-turned brewery after it. From its humble beginnings (with some help from Stranahan's neighbor Hunter S. Thompson), to one of the most respected breweries in craft beer, Flying Dog continues to serve refreshing, unique beers.

Some of the time-tested beers from George Stranahan's painting-inspired brewery include:

  • Bloodline Blood Orange IPA: Grapefruit and citrus notes mix with bitter hops in one of Flying Dog's most-celebrated ales.(7% ABV)

  • Doggie Style pale ale: A refreshing mix of grassy, citrus, and aromatic flavors for a drink that pairs well with just about everything. (5.5% ABV)

  • Gonzo imperial porter: Brewed in honor of Stranahan's neighbor and Flying Dog fan, Hunter S. Thompson, this brew combines chocolate, coffee, and vanilla malts for a big and bold flavor, just the writer's work. (9.2% ABV)
