What You'll Get
Join the folks at FOOT for a fun, funny and informative "outing" that takes visitors and locals alike on a grand two-hour tour of this groundbreaking gay neighborhood. You'll learn about the people, places and events that turned the Castro district into an LGBT hotspot, and stop in at history-making places like Josie's Cabaret -- the area's first gay bar -- the camera store and campaign headquarters of iconic activist Harvey Milk, the Pink Triangle Park and memorial, the gorgeously restored Castro Theatre and more. Plus, your friendly guide will keep you gloriously entertained with trivia, quizzes and other excitement throughout the two-hour stroll.
Tour distance runs about 14 blocks including two blocks of walking slightly uphill. The excursion is about two hours long and ends at Castro and Market — right across the street from the Castro Muni station.
Walking shoes and bottled water are recommended, and since this is an outdoor tour, please dress for the weather.
This tour openly discusses sexuality and might not be appropriate for younger children. Parental discretion is advised.
