The grilled steaks at Forest Mexican Cantina don’t arrive at tables with baked potatoes and steamed veggies—instead, the chefs serve them with refried beans, rice, and guacamole. Every dish at the Cantina is made a la Mexico, with tortillas fashioned into burritos, tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, chimichangas, and nachos. In other dishes, chicken simmers in a creamy cheese sauce in the polo supreme and shrimp takes on a luscious garlicky notes as it sautées in a housemade ajo sauce. Just like the steak, every dish arrives with the customary beans, rice, and guacamole arranged in the image of Frida Kahlo.
