We were pleasantly surprised how reasonable the prices were, it's no more expensive than any quality restaurant in the area & the food is fantastic! It was a perfect fit for Groupon, too, as our preconceptions probably kept us away, but now that we've been there, we'll actually go back (often), which really isn't usually the case for Groupon.

The Forge Club’s talented chefs procure seasonal delicacies to stuff a prix fixe menu with oysters rockefeller, roast duckling, wild striped bass, and butternut-squash ravioli. Pairs start the dining experience with smoked Canadian salmon, butternut-squash ravioli, or oysters rockefeller baked with herbed cream spinach and parmesan cheese. Each of the three entree choices includes a side salad of mixed organic greens and a glass of red or white wine. Wild striped bass arrives with chanterelle mushrooms in tow, roast duckling swims and dives in montmorency-cherry sauce, and veal marsala reclines in a rich wine sauce with cushions of edible joy. Patrons can triumphantly anchor fork tines into a cheesecake or cherries jubilee after conquering meals.

The Forge Club houses five rooms with different themes, from the intimate Governor’s room with exposed brick and vintage posters to the Garden room’s wood panels and live piano music with Barbara Hollister Friday and Saturday evenings.

About The Forge Club

The notion of a private supper club calls to mind gleaming expanses of polished wood and racks of fine wine. Such a vision of The Forge of Vernon Hills, which was a private club until recently, is essentially accurate. In keeping with the spirit of exclusive opulence, chefs stew tart Montmorency cherries in a sauce for duckling and shuck fresh Virginia blue-point oysters. Twin lobster tails melt drawn butter, and seasonally inspired specials with fresh ingredients have included butternut-squash ravioli and seared jumbo sea scallops with fresh mango sauce. Adjacent to the main dining area are private rooms for parties of up to 160 guests, the exact number of people on a standard rugby team.

It has lost some of the elegance from years past, mostly due to the demeanor of the server who was rather brash.
