Fort Collins Peach Festival
There's a reason why, when life is going well, you say "everything's peachy." For the Rotary Club of Fort Collins Breakfast, the phrase is doubly meaningful; through their annual peach sale, the philanthropic group raises enough money to give free dictionaries to every 3rd grader in the Poudre School District. In 2011, the club joined with the other three Fort-Collins-area Rotary Clubs to start the Fort Collins Peach Festival, a celebration of all things fruity (and charitable).
The festival returns for its fifth edition in 2015, this time benefiting both the Rotary Clubs of Fort Collins and the STEM Education Fund. The fest's true stars are the peaches; grown by Colorado farmers, they add their sweetness to events including the pancake breakfast and the pie-eating contests. Visitors can work up an appetite during the early-morning run/walk, or sit back and take in live performances including a cheer and dance competition and live sets from bands including Winchester Holiday, American Blackout, and the Commoners.
