About Fort Mountain State Park
The hiking trails wind through hardwood forests and blueberry thickets. You can see rolling mountain vistas and crystalline lakes or explore a stone fire tower built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Fort Mountain State Park plunges visitors into the best parts of nature with everything from canoe rentals and wagon rides to 14-miles of hiking trails and geocaching. One of the park's most mysterious sites is an 855-foot-long wall that stands on the highest point of the mountain. Admire this ancient fortification and imagine whether Native Americans built it for religious ceremonies, defensive purposes, or wall-ball tournaments. If you can't squeeze your visit into just one day, stay the night at one of the park's tent or RV camping sites and cottages.
