Q:

What do the "review sessions with a personal mentor" actually mean? Online or in person? Can you please elaborate?

Ashlee L.  asked on  Jan 18, 2013

A:

Hi Ashlee, Please allow me to explain exactly how the course works so that you can be sure it is the right choice for you. Our "Learn How To Use Your DSLR" course is a great first step into the world of digital photography. It is comprised of 4 online classes, quizzes and corresponding practical projects to be completed and submitted to your tutor. It is designed for those who have just purchased a DSLR and need some help getting started. It is written for any camera that has the ability to manually control the shutter speed, aperture and ISO. If you have any questions about how to perform a certain task on your particular camera it is simply a matter of sending us a message and we will walk you through the process step by step. Throughout the course you will have the opportunity to contact your tutor one-on-one directly whenever you like. Your dedicated tutor is not just a teacher, but a working industry professional themselves. They will therefore be able to help you with all the real-world advice and tips you need to get on your feet with your new camera. You can contact your tutor and ask them a question at any time, they would be happy to hear from you and help you with any additional technical questions you may have. You also have full access to the foto-classes support team who are available 24/7 every step of the way.

Q:

Can you advise how long each module will take - online explanation / teaching & how long the projects should take to complete? Need to schedule my time appropriately.

Cindy G.  asked on  Jan 19, 2013

A:

Hi Cindy, Well you do it at your own pace but it should take around 2 hours or less to read the class and do the quiz. There is an assignment with each class and since that you do on your own away from the computer that is totally up to you. I hope that helps.

Janet H.  asked on  Jan 18, 2013

A:

Hi Janet, You have 60 days to redeem the course but then you have 3 months to complete it. I hope that helps.

Q:

I was wondering about the black and white class. It says under the coarse outline class 3 we will learn how to use Lightroom, Photoshop CS and Photoshop Elements to convert your color images to black and white. Do we need to purchase this to learn the procedures or do we have a free access to this through the coarse? Thanks

cindy w.  asked on  Jan 18, 2013

A:

Hi Cindy, Thanks for the question and for signing up! We do not offer any of those softwares, however adobe is now offering their CS2 for free as a download. You can find it at adobe.com Granted it's a bit older but it is free. Most of the software we talk about do offer a 30 day free trial though. Hope that helps.

Q:

I just bought a Sony NEX 6, so it's not a DSLR but has pretty much all the benefits of one. Still need to learn to use it, will the "Learn to use you DSLR" course benefit me with this camera?

Corinne C.  asked on  Jan 18, 2013

A:

Hi Corinne, As long as you can control that ISO, f-stop and shutter manually on that camera the this course would be good for you. All the principles are the same. david
