Golf ranks as one of America's classiest pastimes, superseded only by Maserati fights and money barbecues. Enjoy yourself in style with today’s Groupon: for $17, you get 18 holes of golf (up to a $16 value), a cart rental (an $11 value; rental is charged/person), and one large bucket of range balls (a $5 value) at Fox Ridge Golf Club, in Newton (up to a $32 value).

A Newton mainstay since 1903, the Fox Ridge Golf Club entertains players with a nine-hole, 6,300-yard course featuring mature trees, well-manicured greens, and four sets of tees that accommodate all skill levels. After capturing a wild cart, golfers set out to conquer each hole while practicing their swings and victory fistpumps. First-time clubbers and full-time swingers alike can improve their long game at the driving range, their short game on the practice green, and their really short game by calling it a day halfway through the first hole.

Fox Ridge Golf Club

Vibrant hardwoods envelop the lush fairways of Fox Ridge Golf Club's nine-hole course as they stretch across 3,174 yards of scenic, secluded terrain. The horticultural haven encircles a central stream, which comes into play on four holes and houses a sophisticated underwater civilization that uses golf balls as currency. Rounds end in dramatic fashion at the ninth hole—a 498-yard par 5 that doglegs slightly left and contains the widest segment of the intervening river, forcing spiky-shoed adventurers to make cerebral course-management decisions. Head golf pro Mike Riffel guides greenhorns on their path to green jackets with a variety of golf lessons.
