Using a pillowy bun as a barrier, frankfurters are safely protected from environmental hazards such as open manholes and greasy-handed schoolchildren. Enjoy snugly shielded eats with today's Groupon: for $5, you get $10 worth of gourmet franks, sides, drinks, and more at Franktuary. This Groupon is valid at the downtown store location as well as for mobile truck orders (which can be tracked by following @franktuary on Twitter).

Voted Best Downtown Lunch Spot by the readers of Pittsburgh magazine in 2009 and 2010, Franktuary prepares its eats using an army of fresh, organic ingredients, as well as locally sourced beef. Load a bun with one of three dogs: the veggie (a vegan tofu frank), the standard (an all-beef, natural-casing frank), or the locavore (an all-beef, organic, grass-fed frank). Chomp down on an au naturel naked frank ($2.75+), or add your own toppings.

For those preferring a pre-dressed dog, Franktuary's menu features gourmet concoctions such as the Pittsburgh, which pairs creamy coleslaw with smooshed pierogies ($3.75–$5.75). Classic dogs ($3–$5.25) such as the New Yorker team sauerkraut with Vidalia onion sauce and brown mustard, while the hypocrite tops the veggie dog with homemade chili. Franktuary also offers ice cream and sorbets in addition to fresh-made fruit shakes ($3–$5), and a selection of bottled sodas, including local ginger beer and mint juleps from the Natrona Bottling Co. ($2.15).

Tucked away in the basement of the historic Trinity Cathedral church, Franktuary's quirky interior boasts frankfurter art, including famous paintings such as Mona Lisa, Hot Dog Eater. Franktuary's main location is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., though its roaming mobile truck can be tracked via the bun-shaped tire prints it impresses upon the asphalt, or by simply following it on Twitter.

Groupon not valid for delivery.
