All of your instructors are fabulous! They make you feel welcome and confident that you can learn to dance. Marina is most patient with us.

Best Groupon for what we got. Fred Astaire is a first class dance studio. We were treatef as part of the group the minute we stepped in the door. Our coach Daniel teaches in a way that builds confidence. I would recommend Fred Astaire to anyone who wants to learn and enjoy a great experience.

Specializing in Latin and ballroom dancing, Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Madison is owned by Peter and Linda Goethche, both of whom competed nationally in their homelands of Denmark and Czech Republic before opening the studio in 2007. No matter how busy your schedule or how leaden your feet, Fred Astaire’s staff of professionally trained and certified instructors can tailor private sessions to match any dancer's skill level and specific goals. Private introductory lessons last 40 minutes and acquaint students with the studio's spacious dancing environment before teaching the basics of ballroom dance. Beginners may choose to learn simple steps or take on a professionally choreographed routine, and experienced dancers can dust off their dancing shoes to brush up on advanced tango techniques. Group lessons, which also last 40 minutes, cover a broader range of topics while enhancing education with the social interaction of a variety of partners. Following the conclusion of your lessons, you'll be ready for a 90-minute Friday-night practice party where you'll trip the light fantastic with fellow students—without clumsily tripping on the light itself.

About Fred Astaire Madison

In 2008, Peter and Linda Goethche—both of whom are professional dancers who earned their master’s degrees in ballroom from Germany's ADTV program—united their formidable talents and lifelong dreams to open a dance studio. After partnering with the consortium of award-winning instructors Fred Astaire Dance Studio—a national franchise that was cofounded by the legendary toe tapper himself—the pair’s team has gone on to win the Best Dance Instructor award from Wisconsin Bride Magazine for four years running.

Their instructors shepherd students of all ages and skill levels through lessons that span the style spectrum. Low-pressure private sessions allow enthusiastic teachers to fine-tune individual students' techniques and form, using their expert eyes and mechanical dancing shoes preprogrammed to do the Charleston. Patrons can learn how to cavort through classic waltz and foxtrot romps or swivel through the modern steps of salsa, swing, or samba. For dancers hoping to hoof it up in a social setting, the group practice parties provide a one-night extravaganza of instruction, demonstrations, and amateur firewalking.
