About Freiburg Gastropub
With more than 30 German, or German-style, beers on top, Freiburg Gastropub has the bier market pretty well cornered. So refined is Freiburg's list that beer is categorized into specialty sections including seasonal bocks and fest-specific brews. Of course, the German culinary scene doesn't stop at beer. Traditional Bavarian-style pretzels with obatzda cheese and house mustard kick off meals. Main courses see schnitzel platters stacked with fried and breaded pork and chicken cutlet. Or, wrap hands around the hulking schwarzwälder hamburger, which tops a half pound all-Angus patty with schwarzwälder ham, swiss cheese, carmelized onion, and horseradish cream. The meat averse can find a smattering of vegetarian friendly options, including the maultaschen, a pasta dish stuffed root-veggie purée and topped with sage, hazelnuts, and riesling butter sauce.
