What You'll Get
A night away from home provides humans with an escape without requiring pets to spend weeks on end at posh kennels, where other animals might laugh at them for not wearing clothes. Protect your pets from ridicule with today’s Groupon to The French Country Inn in Lake Geneva. Choose between the following options:
- For $82, you get a one-night weekday (Sunday–Thursday) stay in a standard guest room (up to a $165 value, depending on the season).
- For $97, you get a one-night weekend (Friday–Saturday) stay in a standard guest room (up to a $195 value, depending on the season).
Nestled 15 feet from the edge of Lake Como, The French Country Inn offers pristine views from 33 European-style rooms, as well as complimentary breakfast and afternoon tea. A central room dating from the 1880s grounds the establishment in old-school charm and mesmerizing parquet flooring. Eyeball the waterscape from your room’s lakeside balcony, or call to the fish swimming happily below the surface, free from the tyrannical demands of Aquaman. With bellies filled with tea and eyes filled with scenery, guests can recline in a king-size bed or stretch themselves across two queen-size beds and warm their feet before a French-heater fireplace as the gentle aquasounds of Lake Como create a sonic path to slumberland.
Rooms feature either two comfortable chairs or one doubly comfortable pull-out couch. Bed-and-breakfasters can also stop by fine-dining destination Kirsch’s Restaurant (not included in today’s Groupon), with an on-site location that allows guests to gastronomize without frittering away dollars on valet parking, taxis, or sled dogs. Though The French Country Inn requires a two-night stay on weekends during the high season, this requirement will be waived for Groupon customers.
Groupon buyers may choose to pay the difference and upgrade from the standard guest room.

About French Country Inn on the Lake
On first glance, it’s hard to imagine that the charming French Country Inn was once a haunt for such notorious gangsters as Bugs Moran and Baby Face Nelson. But the century-old bed and breakfast, which sits unassumingly on a quiet street on the banks of Lake Como, served as a discreet getaway for gangsters during the height of Prohibition.
After walking into the main building, you immediately get a sense of the inn's rich history. Parquet flooring leads to an intricately carved staircase made of solid oak imported from Denmark. In the other buildings, period furnishings and hues of warm crimson lend the accommodations a homey feel.
In keeping with this hospitable spirit, the innkeepers lay out a complimentary breakfast spread each morning. As the day winds on, guests can venture out to nearby downtown Lake Geneva to browse its antiques stores, art galleries, and curio shops.
