A:

Hello Dina...as a followup to your question about blood work. If you have a medical condition (such as diabetes or hypertension), we would need to perform labwork which normally runs $100. However, for most healthy patients, this is often unnecessary. We can discuss this further during your consultation. Dr Stone/Friva (drstone@friva.com)

Q:

Are there additional costs for any compression garments that may be needed? Also, is it true that you have to be at a steady weight for several months before going through the procedure? If I am currently on a weight loss plan, does that mean I have reach and be at my "goal weight" for a period of months before having liposuction?

Kristine L.  asked on  Jul 26, 2012

A:

Kristine..It is best to complete your weight loss program, and as you suggest, be at a stable weight for a few months. The results are much more predictable. We include the compression garments in the service fee. I suggest you email me and we can discuss your plan in more detail. Dr Stone/Friva (drstone@friva.com)

Q:

Other than the conditions mentioned are there others that you would not recomend to have this procedure?

Datiana K.  asked on  Jul 26, 2012

A:

Datiana..Other than medical conditions (ie diabetes), the most common contraindication is being substantially overweight. We suggest to patients whose BMI over 30 to begin diet therapy prior to a liposuction procedure. Liposuction is intended to sculpt areas, it is not intended as a means to lose weight. Q:

Would fat transfer to the buttocks also be the extra $900.00 Would also be able to drive yourself home? All that would be needed is bloodwork? Would you also have to have a physical or is that included or not necessary?

Datiana K.  asked on  Jul 26, 2012

A:

Hello Datiana..allow me to answer your questions...#1 Fat transfer - yes, the fee for fat transfer is $900; #2 Drive Home - most patients drive home. The total time you're in the office is about 4 hours. When I give patients a mild sedative, I prefer someone drive you home. #3 Blood work - depending if you have any medical conditions, I may draw a complete blood count prior to the procedure. #4 I will exam you during the consultation. Hope that answers your questions. Dr Stone/Friva (drstone@friva.com)

Q:

Hi Dr. S., Are these procedure tumescence liposuction? And are these procedures different from the liposculpting? THanks.

Steven L.  asked on  Jul 26, 2012

A:

Hello Steven...yes, we use tumescent anesthesia during liposuction procedures. In brief, you're awake and can listen to music while the tumescent solution is infused. Once the area is numb, we begin to remove the fat from the target areas. This technique of removing fat from areas to create a more shapely look is sometimes refereed to as liposculpting or body conturing. Dr Stone/Friva (drstone@friva.com)

Q:

Just wondering, after the surgery can I drive myself home or I need a designated driver? Also can I return to work immediately ? Thx

Michael L.  asked on  Jul 25, 2012

A:

Hello Michael..in response to your questions: #1 Driving Home - yes, patients often drive themselves home. On occasion we provide a mild sedative during the procedure, and, in this case, it is recommended that you have a friend or family member drive you home. #2 Return to Work - it can take 4 to 7 days to feel "normal" again...everyone is different. It takes few days for the fluid administered during the procedure to be eliminated. I would plan on taking 3 days off after the procedure, and see how you feel then. We can talk further about this during your consultation. Dr Stone/Friva (drstone@friva.com)

Q:

Is this correct: Purchase deal for one area $750 (lower ab) then pay an extra $500 for upper ab, and another $900 to have the fat transferred to breasts/buttocks = $2150 not including lab work ? Also, what are your payment options for the extra liposuction and fat transfer? Thanks

Tiffany Y.  asked on  Jul 25, 2012

A:

Hello Tiffany. You are partially correct. Liposuction on 2 areas would be ($750 + $500 = $1250) plus fat transfer to one area would be an additional $900....a total of $2150. Assuming there is sufficient fat removed and available for fat transfer, you could plan on one of those areas ....not two...to receive the transfers. Lastly, we have Care Credit available on very favorable terms. We can provide that information during your consultation. Dr Stone/Friva (drstone@friva.com)
